I don't think it's anything I will ever be able to do - I would be too scared, and that would scare a horse like Immy right back. Congrats to you for how far you have brought her, and I will continue to enjoy hearing about her progress.RiderWriterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05679157278313699794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4728532494108633757.post-56276309740468626902013-05-02T10:27:10.661-07:002013-05-02T10:27:10.661-07:00Yay Immy! You and Imogene are a true testament to the fact that horses do not come out all alike, and cookie cutter training methods are useless. Sure there is some truth in it all but what works for one horse may cause a different horse to totally shut down.
I love love love this post. I've been following your blog(s) for quite a while now, and only commented occasionally. This past weekend, I bought a thoroughbred mare at a university auction. She had been donated to the polo program and flunked out, but her description said she was "willing". When she came into the auction chute, she made one nice lap around and then politely excused herself from the ring (despite her novice-level rider's protests). I bid $500 and brought her home with me.

She has a tattoo, and I've found out that she's an unraced OTTB with some pretty nice lines. She's only 8 years old and has perfect clean legs, and a very nice build. I want to do eventing with her, but I also want her to go barefoot.

She currently has front shoes (with a half pad on the left front only... no pad on the right... bizarre?) and is going barefoot in the back. Her hoof wall seems pretty strong and sturdy, but her sole appears overgrown and her heel bulbs are "squishy" for lack of a better term. No sensitivity, and she has a very nice gait, but she occasionally trips with her left front (I think it's due to having only one pad, maybe).

Help?

Here she is:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/v/935694_10200158188092582_1146378771_n.jpg?oh=67a1529e741ccc6c3bb373bf19f4feeb&oe=5182D9FF&__gda__=1367541079_996386f568d72178b6d65e9d0425a969

https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/935410_10200148570972160_1212109185_n.jpgLizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09684184753149395077noreply@blogger.com
