Something amazing and miraculous has happened! I can't hardly believe that I am writing this out for real.... but WE DID IT!!! The Bay Girl fund has literally reached $999!!
And who am I kidding, saying WE did it.... YOU did it!! You, my excellent and beautiful and wonderful and kind and caring readers did it!! We need to have a special club for you guys or something... Bay Girl's Girls? Bay Girl's Guardian Angels? Mimosas all around for everybody!
I shouldn't celebrate too prematurely, because obviously I still need to call and make the offer on her. Nothing is certain until papers have exchanged hands, and no one knows that better than I do... but I can't not be excited!!
And now, it REALLY is time to pick a new name for my sweet love. I had almost decided to stick with "Bay Girl," just because of the history behind it and all that it implied, but I feel as though it doesn't really even work now that she isn't just "bay" anymore (rabicano is special after all!). As you guys are the ones responsible for her upcoming rescue, I want you guys to weigh in on a new name. Here are just some of the ones I've had floating around in my head:
Agatha
Gizelle
Mona
Scarlett
Estelle
Beatrix
Kitty
Renata
Portia
Trellis
Jolene
Somehow, I don't really feel as any of them actually FIT her, you know? The name needs to be simple, elegant, beautiful, and gentle. Some of those names are too sharp, too complex, too racy for her.
I did have one pop into my head that I am absolutely in love with: Love. It really does seem to fit - it is beautiful, simple, and hopelessly overused and misunderstood except by those who really know it well. Nobody else seems to like the name but me, but that is the one I am leaning towards the hardest.
She says, THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Love WOULD fit her! Have you considered the Greek word for love? Agape.
ReplyDeleteI think Love is a great name, and, since YOU are the one who has to use it all the time, I say go for it. I do like Estelle too though ;)
ReplyDeleteWonderful news!
ReplyDeleteWhat about the Maori word for love, Aroha. Since you also spent time in NZ might be fitting.
ReplyDeleteyay!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! I hope it all works out for you guys.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting! I know it will work out, good for you guys! You are going to have your hands pretty full with two mares:) I like Love, it is simple and charming. What about Aroura? She's special and beautiful, like the northern lights:)
ReplyDeleteYay!!!!! I have no suggestions for names, but I'm so happy for you two! :D
ReplyDeleteI like Aroha too!
ReplyDeleteWhat about Lovey? Can't wait to hear when she's actually yours.
ReplyDeleteI think there are a very special few who can carry the name Perdita. It is Latin "lost one", and that certainly embodies the beginnings of her life, but hopefully not the rest of it :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I like Love! Estelle is my second pick.
ReplyDeleteGreat!
ReplyDeleteLove seems a fitting name for a horse who hasn't had enough of it, until now, of course.
Such exciting news!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Can't wait to hear about your call to make the offer! I like Love (always go with your gut!), but I also like Portia. Its a little snooty, but it fits with the lifestyle that she *will* have. Rags to riches, so she needs a rich name. ;)
ReplyDeleteYAY!!!! I am SO glad you will be making an offer on her! :-) I think Love is a wonderful name and very fitting.
ReplyDeleteGrace
ReplyDeleteHope
ReplyDeleteGrace comes to mind when I look at that lovely face.
ReplyDelete:] I like 1) Agape 2) Perdita 3) Love 4) Bayli
ReplyDeleteI reaaaaaaaaaally like Agape though!!
Or Italian "I love you" Ti amo but put it all together "Tiamo"
ReplyDeleteAnd she does have a tiny star on her head "Stella" is Italian for star
Can't wait to find out what you decide. :)
Congratulations! That is really, really exciting. My goodness, I am constantly inspired by the blogging community and the huge heart that it has.
ReplyDeleteYou could always go with Love in different languages to try to find a more unique twist on the name... amor, amore, etc. :)
Oh god I think I just strained a grin muscle!!! I so hope everything goes right.. I love the name Love, especially as "Tiamo" as Margaret suggested. It's everyone's love for her that's given her such luck, and your love for her that has made it all happen! I can't wait for her to begin the life she deserves with you. xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! She is a lucky girl! I love the Amor suggestion.
ReplyDelete...did they accept your offer ???
ReplyDeleteCurious minds...
ReplyDeleteI'm out of town right now but I will give updates when I get home :)

ReplyDeleteLove sounds like a wonderful name for her. She is a lovely girl and the name fits her nicely.
ReplyDeleteHoping for good news.. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm casting my vote for either Tiamo or Stella - I guess my favorite being the latter. So pleased she really be YOUR girl, no matter what she's called!
ReplyDelete(BTW, still waiting for an explanation of Pangea's name... enquiring minds want to know!)
So happy for both of you!!! I think Aroha would be perfect with how much you love NZ. Fits both of you.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with RiderWriter... what's the deal on the story of Pangea's name? We've been waiting lady!
